House hunting
by Duncan MacKellar

I'm looking for a cosy little cottage,
A penthouse, villa or flat.
I don't mind at all if it's large or small,
As long as it doesn't have a cat.

I don't know why but everywhere I go,
It happens every time without fail.
If I so much as squeak or make a floorboard creak,
I get a hungry feline on my tail.

Doesn't anybody feed their cat anymore?
They just don't know how it feels.
It's not very nice for us poor mice,
When a cat has to catch its own meals.

All I need is a little peace and quiet,
A place where it's comfy and dry.
I'd be easy to please with a morsel of cheese
And perhaps, some nice apple pie.

I'm small and wouldn't be a nuisance,
Just a little corner would be fair.
It would be all right, I'd keep out of sight,
You wouldn't even know I was there.

In the meantime, I'd better get moving,
And hurry up my hunting for a house.
I just heard a howl, he's on the prowl,
The cat is hunting for a mouse!
