I'm contented
by Duncan MacKellar
It's very satisfactory,
To be a dairy cow.
I'm glad I'm not a kangaroo,
A penguin or a sow.
I wake up in the morning,
I'm watered and I'm fed.
The only thing I've got to do
Is stroll to the milking shed.
I like the summer best of all,
The fields are filled with corn.
It makes me feel grateful,
For the day I was born.
There's not a lot that bothers me,
When all is said and done.
I've even got a leafy tree
To shade me from the sun.
So while the grass is green
And I'm out here with the birds,
You'll never hear from me,
Any discontented words.
